Malahide won the opening game of Senior Two with an entertaining 25 run win over Dublin University.
The result will be particularly sore for Lorcan Tucker, who smashed 14 boundaries in an unbeaten 121 on his debut for the students but still ended up on the losing side.
Chasing the home side's 220, Tucker looked to have set Trinity up for a win when he dominated a second wicket stand of 76 with skipper Will von Behr (18).
However Malahide's attack stuck to their task well with three wickets for Boyne, and two apiece for Saville and Reynolds saw Trinity stumble from 81 for 1 to 154 for 9, and eventually 195 all out.
Malahide's innings featured another very successful debutant with Michael Hingston's switch from Waringstown proving fruitful as he hit 76 from 102 balls (4 fours,, 3 sixes) as he and Boyne (48*) added 90 as they rescued Malahide from a precarious 80 for 5.
Professional Matt Petrie claimed 4 for 29, while there were two wickets apiece for Irish internationals George Dockrell (2-28), and Isobel Joyce (2-31) - both debutants.
The win will give Malahide great heart as they attempt to bounce back after relegation last year. The fact that they did so without a major contribution from their pair of Irish internationals Peter Chase and Fintan McAllister (and the Ireland team manager Chris Siddell!) augurs well for the Villagers.
